I woke up this morning listening to a ministry by Micah Turnbo. If you haven’t heard of him, please look for him. His ministry is amazing. He is a real-time seer—he sees in the spiritual realm; he sees angels and demons, he sees the Lord, and he has had encounters with the Father. Let me tell you, his ministry will leave you loving Jesus even more.
I learnt to hear from the Lord through the ministry of Mark Virkler, Communion with God. He shares four keys to hearing God’s voice:
- Stillness
- Fixing your eyes on Jesus
- Tuning to flowing thoughts and flowing pictures
- Writing or journaling down what you see or hear
I struggled so much with picturing Jesus. I was always scared that I would form an image that wasn’t Him in my mind—and that it would become an idol. But when I finally tried picturing Jesus, my mind went a little crazy. Still, even in that chaos, He spoke to me. He told me not to be afraid—that He is with me. This is what He shared with me as I journaled:
Journal
“Child, the demonic are nothing compared to Me. I am so strong; My power is a trillion times stronger than the enemy. They squirm and run away like rats in My presence. You wonder why I call them rats—because that is what they are, an infestation that destroys and eats away at your precious things. But you know what, child? They run away when I come. They run away when you come, because I am in you, and you are in Me.
Oh, My child, never fear the demonic. Do not fear them at all. What can they do? They speak big, but they are nothing compared to Me. You are My child, and I am your Father. I hold you and protect you.”
God loves us so much because we are His children. I think He wants us to walk more in faith—to push our limits in our pursuit of Him. He wants to minister to us through His voice and through personal encounters with Him.
Sometimes, I (and maybe you too) get scared of going deeper—afraid of getting it wrong. But every time I pursue Him and His voice, I end up loving Jesus even more, loving others better, and becoming more patient and kind. Isn’t that what His Kingdom is about? We serve a God and a Kingdom that never fails.
Do you know that new agers actually took truths that originally belong to God and twisted them? How about we search the Word and learn how to encounter Him the way He intended? When you do, you’ll realize how beautiful and pure it truly is.
As I write this, I’m reminded of the passage in Ezekiel 47:1–9 (TPT):
Then the shining man brought me back to the entrance of the temple, and I saw water flowing from underneath the temple threshold. It was flowing eastward (for the temple faced east). Water was trickling out from the south side of the temple, south of the altar. Then he took me out by the north gate and led me around the outside to the gate that faces east. And there I saw water flowing out on the right-hand side, south of the gateway. The man holding his measuring line walked east and measured off a thousand cubits. Then he made me wade across the shallow water, and it was ankle deep. He measured off another thousand cubits and told me to wade across the stream again; the water was up to my knees. He measured off another thousand cubits and made me wade across the stream again, and the water was up to my waist. He measured off another thousand; it was now a river over my head, which I was unable to swim across. It was a deep swollen river—a river no one could cross. The shining man said to me, “Son of man, do you see this?” Then he brought me back to the riverbank. When I got there, I was astonished to see an enormous number of trees on each side of the river. He said, “This water flows east, down to the Jordan Valley and to the Dead Sea. As it flows into the stagnant waters, that water becomes fresh water. Wherever the river flows, all living creatures will live and thrive. Schools of fish will be very plentiful, for wherever the river goes, it brings healing, and everything will come alive!”
I sense that God is calling us to deeper encounters with Him. The Bible says streams of living water will flow from within us, and this passage in Ezekiel shows that wherever the river flows, it brings healing.
God wants to heal you—and to heal others through you. Take the risk. Wade deeper into the waters. Let the river carry you and immerse you completely. Do you know where it flows from? From the throne of the living God.
If you ask God for His river, do you think He will give you a scorpion or a stone? (Matthew 7:9)
