Where there is no clear prophetic vision, people quickly wander astray. But when you follow the revelation of the Word, heaven’s bliss fills your soul. — Proverbs 29:18 (TPT)
What if your transformation begins not with striving, but with seeing? What if the key to becoming who God created you to be is simply to behold the picture He has for your life?
This is what the Lord spoke to me one morning as I sought His heart about direction and identity:
“My child, I have a great vision for you, an amazing one, and I want you to see it. When you see it, you become. You become what you behold.”
“I want you to see yourself the way I see you, and you shall be transformed into the image.”
These words landed deeply in my spirit. And the more I meditated on them, the more I realized they align with both Scripture and science. God wants us to see the version of ourselves that reflects His glory, so that, in time, we can live it.
What God Showed Me About Vision
The Lord continued speaking:
“Child, take this picture of who I see you as and behold it. Start seeing it even today, and see Me transform you into My image. Because that is My image, the image of Me, your God. I put Me in you so that you can radiate Me and My glory.”
He showed me that this wasn’t about pride or ambition. It wasn’t about copying the world’s version of success. It was about aligning with His vision for my life. A life of obedience, joy, beauty, and power. A life where the desires of my heart reflect His will and His goodness.
Even when I asked about having a vision that included my own likes and desires, God gently reassured me:
“No child, because I put those desires in you, and I purify your vision constantly. Write the vision and edit it accordingly. Write it. Call it a rough draft that we can work on.”
Isn’t that beautiful? God invites us to co-create with Him.
The Science Behind Vision: Why It Works
Science backs up the idea that beholding a vision changes who you become
- Future Self Theory: When you visualize your future self vividly, you’re more likely to make decisions today that align with that future.
- Neuroplasticity: Your brain reshapes itself based on repeated thoughts and images. Visualizing a new identity creates new neural pathways.
- Mental Contrasting: Pairing vision with current reality (and obstacles) makes it more likely you’ll take consistent action.
- Behavioral Activation: Seeing your future self helps you behave like that person now, which reinforces long-term change.
Put simply: What you behold, your brain begins to believe. And what your brain believes, your life starts to mirror.
A Biblical Foundation for Vision
The Bible is clear that vision is central to living a purposeful, Spirit-led life:
- Proverbs 29:18 (TPT): “When there is no clear prophetic vision, people quickly wander astray…”
- 2 Corinthians 3:18: “We all… behold the Lord’s glory, [and] are being transformed into His image with ever-increasing glory.”
- Habakkuk 2:2-3: “Write the vision and make it plain… though it tarry, wait for it.”
- Romans 12:2: “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
- Ephesians 2:10: “You are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works.”
These verses don’t just speak of goals. They speak of identity. Your God-given vision is not about hustle; it’s about alignment.
How to Create a Future Vision with God: A Step-by-Step Guide

1. Pray and Invite God In
Before you begin, quiet your heart and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal how God sees you.
Prayer Prompt:
“Lord, align my heart with Yours. Help me see who I am becoming in You. Reveal to me how you see me and who you want me to be, and give me courage to behold it and believe it.”
2. Reflect with Journaling Prompts
Write your honest responses to these:
- Who is God calling me to be?
- What character traits define my future self?
- What goals and dreams am I pursuing with God?
- What mindsets or habits do I need to release?
- How does my future self serve and impact others?
3. Write a Personal Vision Statement
This should be written in first-person and present-tense. As if you are already living it.
Example:
“I am a woman of wisdom, creativity, and peace. I walk closely with God and inspire others through my writing. I live free from fear and radiate love and clarity. I am disciplined, joyful, and deeply rooted in my purpose.”
Keep it under one page.
4. Choose Anchor Scriptures
Pick 3–5 verses that reinforce your identity and vision.
Some suggestions:
- Proverbs 29:18
- 2 Corinthians 3:17-18
- Habakkuk 2:2-3
- Romans 12:2
- Ephesians 2:10
5. Make It Visual
- Create a written statement you can print or display.
- Build a digital or physical vision board.
- Use images that represent how you live, love, worship, and serve.
6. Review Daily
Each morning, revisit your vision.
- Pray into it.
- Declare it.
- Let it shape your choices.
A Note on Finances & Desires
When I asked the Lord about finances, He gently responded:
“Child, I will bless you, and together we will bless the world. It’s not about affluence; it’s about stewardship. Let Me heal you from lack and fear. Wealth for My glory brings peace and purpose.”
He also reminded me:
“I put desires in you. You are allowed to want beautiful things. As you walk with Me, I purify and guide your longings.”
Final Encouragement: See It and Become It
Friend, God wants to show you who you truly are, not who the world says you are, not who fear says you are, but who He says you are.
You are fused with Him. You radiate His glory. And your future, if you behold it with faith, will reflect His image more and more.
So write the vision. Look at it every day. Speak it out. Let it transform you.
You become what you behold.
